About the Role & Team
FX Networks is searching for an Attorney to provide support in structuring, negotiating, drafting and advising on deals relating to the development and production of television programming.
What You Will Do
- Provide direction and guidance on all legal issues related to the development and production of original content
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements for the development and production of original live action and animated programming for exhibition on FX Networks
- Analyze and research chain of title and other rights issues in connection with existing intellectual property
- Provide guidance on basic intellectual property matters, claims, clearances, and other matters arising out of the day-to-day operations of a large television studio to Business Affairs, Creative, Production and other internal clients
- Prepare nudity/simulated sex riders, guest talent riders and other documents
- Liaise with internal business and creative clients, legal department contacts and other advisory departments (Labor, Tax, Intellectual Property, etc.) as well as external talent attorneys and agents
- Create, update, analyze, and manage forms and legal documents
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of 1+ years of experience
- Experience at a television network or studio and/or familiarity with production legal issues preferred, but not required
- Strong ability to work independently and contribute as a collaborative team member
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, discretion and sound judgment
- Strong drafting, organization and time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to identify and analyze legal issues and propose solutions and strategies for resolution
- Desire to develop an in-depth understanding of the television and streaming industry
Education
J.D. and admission to California State Bar in good standing (or willingness and qualification to be a Registered In-House Counsel)
