OPEN & PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION — ONE-YEAR PROBATIONARY PERIOD
This recruitment is for the Water Engineering Division of Glendale Water & Power.
This management position performs a variety of complex, professional field, and office civil engineering work related to the planning, design, maintenance, and operation of water infrastructure systems.
Essential Functions
- Manages major projects involving plans, specifications, engineer's estimates, and reports for water infrastructure systems (pipelines, pump stations, tanks, reservoirs, and treatment facilities).
- Reviews and supervises preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for private development.
- Solicits, reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and tracks bids, proposals, contracts, and agreements for compliance with City requirements.
- Writes requests for proposals, feasibility studies, work-related technical research, reports, and correspondence.
- Coordinates with engineers, inspectors, consultants, contractors, vendors, other City Departments, and agencies to ensure compliance with City requirements.
- Identifies, researches, gathers, and analyzes project design requirements including hydraulics, hydrology, existing utility plans, field data, materials, and permitting.
- Monitors project expenses and compliance with approved project budget.
- Supervises employees of a lower classification in assigned engineering tasks.
Requirements
Experience: Six years progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience, including three years in a supervisory capacity in Water Engineering. Municipal Water Engineering experience is highly desirable.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
License: Valid Class C California driver's license. Registration as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Registration.
