Hourly City Worker / Youth Employment Team Supervisor

About the role

Under general supervision, this unclassified, non-civil-service hourly position supervises and directs up to ten youth apprentices (14-24 years of age) performing hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, debris clearance, and other general labor tasks on private and public property.

What you'll do

• Perform hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, debris clearance, and other general labor tasks
• Use and/or supervise the use of power and hand tools, hauling and dumping of debris, and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Transport youth apprentices in City vehicles; facilitate staff meetings; prepare time sheets and other paperwork
• Evaluate subordinate staff; perform other related duties as required
• Work weekday, evening, and weekend hours

Requirements

• One year of recent supervisory experience, preferably supervising youth
• Graduation from high school or GED/CHSPE, plus 30 semester units of college work
• Valid Class C California driver's license; CPR certification within six months of employment
• Desired: Basic First Aid/CPR certification, valid Class B commercial license

Pay & benefits

Hourly position; no medical, dental, or accrued leave benefits, with the exception of AB1522 Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act.
